Anya J. Goldstein

Trained by leaders in high-stakes litigation, Anya learned early what it takes to win and the skills necessary to get there. She quickly gains command of the facts, critically analyzes the law, and weaves the two into a compelling story to present to the audience—whether that be the jury, the court, or the opposing party.

  • Anya is known for her strategic thinking, her hard work, and her creativity in achieving her clients’ goals. On the criminal side, she has handled cases involving healthcare and wire fraud, conspiracy, RICO, environmental crimes, identity theft, drug trafficking, and money laundering. On the civil side, she has litigated cases involving contract and partnership disputes, fraud/misrepresentation, SEC enforcement, civil RICO, business torts, unfair competition, copyright, trade secret/employee mobility, and professional liability. Her clients include individuals, closely-held and public companies, and municipal entities. She has tried cases to verdict and argued multiple appeals in the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit. Her appellate victories include two published Ninth Circuit opinions, United States v. Kechedzian, 902 F.3d 1023 (9th Cir. 2018) and United States v. Wijegoonaratna, 922 F.3d 983 (9th Cir. 2019).

Anya has been recognized as a Thompson-Reuters Super Lawyers Rising Star every year from 2017 to 2023, and as a Southern California Super Lawyer in 2024. In 2023, she was named to the Southern California Rising Stars Up-and-Coming 100 and Women Rising Stars Up-and-Coming 50 lists.

Before co-founding Summa LLP, Anya practiced at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, where she represented international entertainment, investment, and professional services firms in high-profile disputes and investigations. While at Munger Tolles, Anya represented a motion picture studio in winning summary judgment in the arbitration of a $75 million contract dispute, a national law firm in obtaining a favorable settlement of legal malpractice claims, a major television studio in securing arbitration of a profit participation matter, and a leading global investment management firm in defending a $200 million action for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition and breach of contract in the complex division of Los Angeles Superior Court.

Early in her career, Anya served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Anya serves on the board of UCLA Law Women LEAD, a women's initiative that partners with UCLA alumnae and students to create intergenerational networks for professional support and advancement.
